Earn something while you job hunt.
A job search takes months.
Side Hustle is a carefully curated list of what we have found to be legitimate platforms that pay for small, flexible work that you can do during your job hunt process. This includes slotting in work around interviews; items such as paid research studies, app testing, transcription, tutoring, freelancing and local delivery.
Browse them here, sign up directly with whichever you like, and track where you’ve applied inside HireMeMaybe. We understand that every cent makes a difference – let us know if you find any of these helpful along your journey.
We never take a cut, never handle your money, and never ask for banking details.Three steps, no middleman
1. Browse the list
Every platform is grouped by the kind of work it offers, with a plain description of what you would actually be doing and whether it is open worldwide or South Africa only.
2. Sign up with them
The link takes you straight to that platform's own application page. You apply with them, they vet you, and they pay you directly. HireMeMaybe is not involved in any of it.
3. Track your progress
Mark each one Applied, Earning, Not accepted or Stopped, so you can see at a glance which irons are in the fire without keeping it all in your head.
What this is, and what it isn't
This is gap-filler income, not a salary. Most of these pay modestly and work comes in bursts: a research study here, a batch of transcription there. It is meant to take some pressure off while you look for the real thing, not to replace it. Acceptance is up to each platform, some have waiting lists, and a few are only open to people living in South Africa. We list them because they are legitimate and they pay, not because we earn anything if you join: there are no referral links on this page.
